Shame Issues

People overreacting to addiction with shame is part of what got us to our problems with criminalization. When the fault of addiction is entirely laid at the feet of the addict, instead of understanding that addiction rewires the brain to desire more of the illicit substance, it leads to blaming the addict instead of helping them.

Shame Prevents Spiritual Recovery

When shame is laid onto the addict, it takes away their network of support, and causes them to fall back on their faults. This creates one of the biggest roadblocks to actually achieving growth and spiritual recovery, as a person.

The Road Forward

When we look at the issue of addiction is this country, we must accept that a new approach is needed. Instead of using shame, we must begin to look at addiction for what it actually is: a "disease". Once we do this, we can begin to see addiction as a public health issue, and one that can be solved through innovative and compassionate thinking.

Mental Health Disorders

Mental health disorders affect a person's thinking, feeling, behavior or mood. This impacts day-to-day living and affects the ability to relate to others. If you think you have a mental health disorder, the first thing you must know is that you are not alone. This condition is far more common than you think. According to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI):

20% of adults experience mental illness each year

5% of adults experience serious mental illness each year

17% of youth aged 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year

50% of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14, and 75% by age 24

Getting treatment is one of the most difficult, yet empowering and important decisions you can make for yourself or a loved one. We can help you rise above it with treatment tailored to your needs.

Our programs help adults and adolescents dealing with mental heath disorders, alcoholism, drugs, and other addictive behaviors.

Using strength from the individual and courage from the family, the process of intervention can build up the individual from within, without the use of ultimatums, but through creating a genuine desire to change.

We use proven methods and evidence based intervention models such as the Johnson, ARISE and RADD models. We honor the dignity and respect of the person and family, and strive for healing for both the family and addict.
